How to write a lot of history books

Or at least: what works for me

I really, really love writing history books. Sometimes people ask me just how many I’ve written, and I have to think carefully. Quite a few!

(Since you ask, 12-ish.)

And now the secret’s out that I’m writing some more.

First up on my list is A ROYAL PROGRESS, a slightly unusual history of the monarchy, taking advantage of the chance I’ve had to think about this deeply over my last twenty years of working in the field.

So today - while I’m thinking about how best to address a massively ambitious new project – I thought I’d list a few things that have helped me over the years to get productive.
