Why subscribe to My Life in the Past?

Hello! I’m Lucy Worsley. My work as a historian takes me to some old and beautiful places, and into some surprising parts of the past. Subscribing means that you can come along too for the ride!

2025 is a bit of a turning point in my life. After 21 years as Chief Curator at the charity Historic Royal Palaces in London, I’ve finally cleared out my office at Hampton Court to begin new adventures as a historian at large.

I’m going to be writing more history books, making more programmes, like my beloved crime history podcast LadyKillers for BBC Radio 4 and BBC Sounds, and the TV series Lucy Worsley Investigates for the BBC and PBS.

Every day’s a school-day in my life, and the reason I like my job so much is because I’m endlessly learning new things about the past.

Want to come along? Subscribing costs nothing, and you get full access to the newsletter and publication archives.

Join the gang!

If you’re enjoying what you read, perhaps you’d be kind enough to support my work with a paid subscription. This means you’ll get some extra goodies along the way, including access to the community chat, and the monthly Q+A.

And if you want to be a super-swot, join the very tip-top tier of my supporters, the Luciferians, to get a handwritten thank you card from me :)

Whichever way you go, thanks for reading! I appreciate your support.

I'm a historian! For ages I was Chief Curator at Historic Royal Palaces, now I'm an ambassador for the charity. I present the (EXCELLENT) podcast LadyKillers on BBC Sounds, and also write historical biographies.
