Thank you Lucy, as ever so enjoyed your Post and the little extra 'snippetts' you always include. Love too the pic of Annie wrestling with the Boar's head.

My Very Best Wishes to You and for All Yours for a Very Happy, Peaceful (ie problem-free) Xmas with perhaps then a more 'Rowdy' ? New Year celebration: chocs and cocktails followed by a super 2026 of happiness, good health and more great success.

There's nothing like a massive boar's head to know it's Christmastime! Merry Christmas everyone!

Merry Christmas to you, Lucy! I have to say that Twelve Days of Tudor Christmas is one of my favorites. In fact, I usually watch it on the second or third day of Christmas. 😆 It's really interesting to watch. And I have to agree, not sure if I would like boar's head, either!!

I get you Tudor Christmas program on PBS Passport and I watch it every year. It looks like it was a lot of fun to make .... up until they had you taste the boar meat, of course.

I am surprised by the size of the boars head in your photo. Looks massive! We used to hear one of the men from the town hall sing the boars head carol at their carol service one a year. He also carried a boars head into the service on a platter.

I watched your program on the tudor christmas recently. It was really super and I just might rewatch it again tomorrow.

A friend at church on Sunday told her dog he was not having a mince pie as it was doggy death. After reading Lucy's substact today perhaps dogs were better off with the meat pies in tudor England? Lucy mentioned Henry Viii greyhound dogs in her documentary.

Thank you for writing so Chrismassy a message Lucy. Many of God's blessings to you and your family and have a very Happy Christmas.

Merry Christmas Lucy. I was present at a Boar's Head feast in City of London in 1967. I was working in the City from 1962 and met my late wife in 1967. She lived in Warwick Lane at the Worshipful Company of Cutlers. Her father was the Beadle and mum was housekeeper and cook. My wife's older brother was the Mustard Boy at the feast. We ate in the Outmess, what an experience that was.

Can someone please explain how ‘a peppercorn rent’ came to mean an insignificant amount? Peppercorns were incredibly expensive. Merry Christmas all.
